In November ECAM hosted a webinar on understanding the role of Community Batteries

The webinar featured four speakers providing different perspectives on the potential and constraints of battery technology to mitigate climate change.

About the speakers:
Lachlan Hensey is the Energy & Storage Officer at Yarra Energy Foundation, a small not-for-profit that works with community, industry and government in support of a zero carbon future. www.yef.org.au

Kenneth Chew is Senior Engineer – Distributed Energy at AusNet. Kenneth’s work  is in integration and orchestration of DER (Distributed energy resources). This includes current major projects for Flexible Exports for Solar PV, the Project EDGE DER Marketplace trial, and Distribution System Operator (DSO) strategy.

Alan Wong has worked in infrastructure for more than 15 years, with more than 5 years spcialising in renewables. He started his own solar retailing business, worked for a global solar farm developer, and most recently was Head of New Initiatives for a local Melbournian electricity retailer Globird Energy. www.globirdenergy.com.au

Scott McKenry has been Executive Officer at Eastern Alliance for Greenhouse Action since the Alliance’s inception in 2013. Over this time Scott has delivered numerous high profile and innovative mitigation and adaptation projects. Many of these initiatives have extended beyond EAGA’s eight member councils to include the whole local government sector with significant state-wide impacts. eaga.com.au
